Safecare Network is a not-for-profit GP Federation based in North Lincolnshire. Membership is made up of all 19 GP practices, with a combined registered patient population of around 174,000. Our region includes Scunthorpe, Brigg, Barton-upon-Humber, Winterton, Kirton- in-Lyndsey and Epworth.

We have recently been commissioned by North Lincolnshire CCG to provide a GP led, community based Specialist Assessment for Frail and Elderly service (SAFE). The SAFE service provides Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGAs) for patients aged 65 years and over who are referred into the service by local GPs and Care Homes. Clinical support is provided by a Consultant Geriatrician.

We are looking to recruit further doctors to add to our growing team of enthusiastic GPs currently delivering the service.

The service involves undertaking CGAs in clinics held within local GP practices, care homes and when appropriate, home visits. The service has access to regular MDT meetings to review more complex patients. Admin support is available and we utilise a range of technology to support GPs in undertaking the assessments as effectively and efficiently as possible.

A full induction will be provided with continuing support.

We have funding to pay exam costs for the Diploma in Geriatric Medicine for GPs who would like to undertake it.

If you are interested in joining our team and would like more information or an informal chat about the service, please contact Safecare’s manager, Julie Killingbeck on 01724 742378 or at J.Killingbeck@nhs.net or the lead GP for the service, Toby Blumenthal at toby.blumenthal@nhs.net
